Flying Nuns

I was walking down Calle General Manso in Cornella de Llobregat, Spain when as if on some pre-arranged signal not available to foreigners all these midget sized nuns dressed in black with the weird turned-up flying-nun Sally Field style hoods came flooding out of doorways from both sides of the street. I was an American Sears Tower among a flock of four-foot tall hooded Catalan Sisters. They were on their way to a Mardi Gras Parade and they weren't really nuns but kids playing the part of the good ole Catholic days of King Philip's Spain.

A Few More Trees

This is my new signature on all my professional emails. I added the second line because I thought the first sentence sounded too much like an eerie dictum from an Orwellian bureaucrat working in 23rd Century Brazil. I added an exclamation point to add a bit of sunniness to an otherwise serious message. Everyone likes trees don't they?

Update from "the Other Side"

I'm a-hurtin' from the ortho visit today. I think Dr. Harris secretly enjoys inflicting pain. Although Doc offices in Forney, Kaufman and Highland Park...I drove to the HP office today because I had Prez Day off and that's where he and the crew was. His office is in the HP Village. Different world and I always forget how different it is till I make a rare visit to the park cities. His office is across from Harry Winstons and Cole Haan. Woulda bought Kimberly something but oh yeah...I'm broke from paying Dr. Harris. One necklace from Harry's cost the same as the Mini Cooper. They also had all these welcome home Dubya and Laura signs all over HP since 43 will be soon residing nearby. What world are these people living in?

Took Kimberly to nice little Italian place on the northside near the tollway called Nonna's for her birthday. DMN rates it best in town. Real good and only mildly pretentious.

Reading this new Thomas Friedman book has me guiltridden every time I put gas in the tank. At Wal*Mart today pumping gas I swore my money was going straight to Al Qaida. Gotta buy an electric car next go-around.

Sooners look to lock up a number one seed in the NCAA tourney. If they win the title it will make the football loss to Tebow almost manageable to deal with.

Dinner for Eight

I've been asked this question before and I always find it interesting to consider. The question asks who would you like to invite to a formal dinner to your house. Formal dinners in this case means that you can invite seven people to your dinner of eight (which includes yourself). You can invite anyone from history or the present day. There are some people I would like to see just to see what they were like in person...but I may not really want them in my house. My list as of now would include in no particular order (and all guys so as not to upset my wife...this is a guys night out) includes...

1.) Jesus Christ
2.) Rory Stewart
3.) Barack Obama
4.) John Muir (pictured left)
5.) Jack Kerouac
6.) Cornel West
7.) Socrates

Speaking uprightly

They hate the one who rebukes in the gate, And they abhor the one who speaks uprightly.
